2017 Starboard Sneak Peek: Pro and Innovation

Outside of Starboard’s standard surf SUP category are the Pro series and the Innovative series which includes last year’s brand new Hyper Nut. Let’s see how the 2017 Starboard Pro and Innovation boards have been changed for a new season.

2017 Starboard Pro Performance

Starboard’s Pro boards consist primarily of short boards given they’re designed for skilled riders. The 2017 series range from 7’2″ to 9’0″ in length, with the smallest of the boards (7’7″, 7’5″, and 7’2″) only coming in the top tier construction: Blue Carbon.

Constructions

Take a look below at the new constructions for the 2017 Starboard Pro and Innovation boards! The constructions include Blue Carbon, Pine Tek, and Starlite.

blue carbon

  • A 15 kg/m3 precision molded fused cell core replicates the exact shape, offers high strength at the lightest weight and has impressive water repulsion.
  • A full deck, bottom and rail wrap of high density PVC foam significantly increases the impact resistance and overall hull strength at the lightest weight.
  • Ultra-light biaxial and uni-directional high grade Carbon fibers with optimized angles deliver flex and reflex for incredible response.
  • Impregnated paint pigment means no paint is sprayed, reducing the overall weight, paint chips and scratches.
  • The sensational lightweight increases carving ability and acceleration.
  • Full Bio resin infusion maintains superior performance with a lower impact on the environment.

Pine Tek

  • 100% PEFC certified and sustainably sourced Australian Pine.
  • A 15kg/m3 precision molded fused cell core replicates the exact shape, offers high strength at the lightest weight and has impressive water repulsion.
  • A high density 500 kg/m3 Pine veneer of lightweight 0.6mm Biaxial Pine forms an outer layer on the entire deck for extra impact resistance, rigidity and improved overall hull integrity.
  • Unidirectional Carbon rail stringers and glass reinforcements for added strength against snapping when nose-diving (Boards below 10ft).
  • High grade woven Carbon Innegra with impregnated paint pigment wraps the entire rails for maximum impact resistance and hull strength.
  • Extra reinforcements are placed around all inserts.
  • Full Bio resin infusion maintains superior performance with a lower impact on the environment.

  • A 15 kg/m3 precision molded fused cell core replicates the exact shape, offers high strength at the lightest weight and has impressive water repulsion.
  • A combination of different fiberglass densities wrap the entire hull for high strength and durability.
  • A standing area of 0.6mm Australian Pine is added for extra deck impact resistance and rigidity.
  • High grade woven Carbon Innegra with impregnated paint pigment wraps the entire rails for maximum impact resistance and hull strength.
  • Unidirectional Carbon rail stringers and glass reinforcements for added strength against snapping when nose-diving (Boards below 10ft).
  • Full Bio resin infusion maintains superior performance with a lower impact on the environment.
