Shell Beach is a small beach located within the city of Pismo Beach, California. The beach is about 5 minutes north from main Pismo Beach. Larger grained sand and shells cover the shore. Paddleboarders and kayakers love to launch their boards from the gentle waters of Shell Beach. Because the surf is small in Shell Beach, paddelboarders and kayakers have the ability to paddle right along the cliffs and sea stacks.

Shell Beach contains great hiking spots and sightseeing locations. The main attraction of this little town are the vistas of the Pacific Ocean. To spot starfish, crabs, sea slugs and more local Central Coast families and tourists stroll along the tide pools of this beach.

In Shell Beach tourists and locals can fish from the cliffs, enjoy the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, explore the sandy beaches and coves, or dine outdoors. This beach is more quiet than others and tends to be a great place for relaxing.

Shell Beach has a very protective launch spot in a small cove at the bottom of a long set of stairs at the end of the Pier Avenue. This area is right along Ocean Avenue, between Cliff Avenue and Windward. Even when the surf is large, the launch here is pretty easy.
