What is Kiteboarding?
There is a sport that is like surfing, wakeboarding, and flying all at once. If you’ve ever been to Pismo Beach on a windy day, you will see over two dozen kiteboarders in the water or doing tricks high above it. Most of these riders are ordinary people that are simply addicted to this amazing extreme sport called kiteboarding.
Kiteboarding uses the wind to combine the aspects of surfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and windsurfing into one extreme ocean sport. The kite, anywhere from 6-20 square meters, powers the rider through the water. The kite will have either 4 or 5 lines up to 27 meters long that connect to a control bar, which the rider pushes and pulls to control the kite in any direction. The bar hooks into the rider’s harness, which is most often worn around the waist. A board similar to a wakeboard or surfboard enables the rider to fly over the water. We carry Naish, DaKine, Slingshot, Neil Pryde, Caution, NPX, Starboard, Creatures of Leasure, Ocean and Earth, Werner, Garmin, AzHiAzIaM, MBS, and much more.
Starboard Brushed Carbon 8'0" X 28. The rails are thinned down from the tail until 2 feet from the nose. The full single concave hull comes alive with magic maneuverability and speed. High performance riders between 35-65 kg (75-142 pounds) will get the very most out of this board. A Pro board for the next generation.
All I can say this board is pretty unreal in the surf and can handle anyting from 8-10 ft surf. This board is actually a lot more stable than Starboard makes it out to be. I'm 5'7" @ 165 lbs and have no problem standind on this board. It does get a little tiring after a couple hours of SUP when there is some chop or wind on the water. For a board this size it's to be expected. It does paddle pretty good as long as you have a good size paddle. I recommend one cut to your surf lenght but a wider blade to give you a little more power when getting into the wave. Getting out through the surf is pretty easy with this board too. If you are riding in beach break conditions the pulled in nose helps diveret the wave around the board allowing you pop over most white wash. Keep in mind that you will need to be in your surf stance in order to get through most waves with this board since it's small and light.
The carbon construction by Starboard is in a class of it's own. This is the BEST construction you can get on the market today. Of course, it's going to cost you but you truely get what you pay for. Be carefule! Once you ride a carbon board by Starboard you will ONLY want to ride a carbon board. You will most likely start selling off your epoxy boards and upgrading them to Brused Cardbon.
I'll add some more action photos when we get them but for now check out the beauty of this Starboard Brushed Carbon 8'0" X 28"
