
Along with new boards, Naish has six models of paddles for 2016. The paddles include Race LE, Wave LE, Kaholo, Makani, Hele and Alana models. Each paddle has it’s own specific purpose making it easy to find the perfect paddle based on your style of SUP.
The 2016 Naish Paddles differ on their materials (for instance the Kaholo’s blade is 100% carbon, while the Makani’s blade is a blend of carbon and glass), but have the same general build as seen in the image above. The paddle blades consist of carbon and/or glass depending on the model. The blades are covered in a protective finish that resists scratches and the edges of the paddle have an ABS Rail to protect from the blade edge.
The Race LE Paddle was designed (as you can probably guess from the name) for SUP racing. The paddle has a newly designed blade that lowers entry angle reducing flutter. It’s lightweight shaft-to-blade connection makes for a more direct power transfer. An Ergo Plus handle was added for comfort and additional power. The paddle also comes with a blade cover for protection when not in the water. The Race LE paddle is made out of 100% 3K Pre-preg Carbon in both the blade and shaft.

The Wave LE paddle was created for surf. The paddle is slightly softer than the more rigid race paddles in order to withstand big waves. The Wave LE has an anti-twist vario system for simple size adjustments and a swell blade/handle alignment. Like the Race LE, the Wave comes with an Ergo Plus handle with traction grip coating for comfort and power. An ABS Rail is built in to protect against the blade edge.
The Wave LE is made of 100% 3K Pre-preg Carbon Kevlar in both the shaft and blade. The shaft features filament-wound carbon reinforcement in critical spots.

The Kaholo Paddle is designed for variety. It performs in surf, racing and touring conditions. The paddle features an anti-twist vario system, Ergo Plus handle, ABS Rail, and a premium blade cover. The blade and shaft is made of 100% 3K Pre-preg carbon keeping it light and durable. Like the other 2016 paddles it’s been molded at a high temperature to optimize resin content and keep it impact resistant. Its shaft features filament-wound carbon reinforcement in critical areas and a 3D grip in the lower hand area.

The Makani paddle, like the Kaholo, is made for racing, touring and surfing. It features an anti-twist vario system and ABS Rail similar to the other boards in the series. The Makani has a Tahitian T-handle that has traction grip coating, power transfer design, a low profile and is light.
The blade is constructed from a blend of carbon and glass for a soft blade flex as well as durability. The shaft meanwhile is made of 75% carbon pre-preg for optimized resin content making it light and durable. An Ergo Grip is included on the lower grip area for reinforcement.

The Hele paddle was created for all-around paddling and cruising. It features an anti-twist vario system and an EVA T-handle. The EVA T-handle is similar to the Tahitian T-handle, providing a traction grip coating, power transfer design and a low profile.
The Hele blade is constructed from a glass matrix pre-preg, giving the plade a soft flex and durability. The shaft is made of 30% carbon/glass pre-preg providing durability.

The Alana paddle is designed for women as a lightweight paddle that still has the power to perform well in race, surf, and touring conditions. The paddle features an anti-twist vario system, Tahitian T-handle and an ABS Rail.
The blade is made of UD carbon/glass matrix pre-preg for a soft blade flex and durability. The shaft is made of 50% pre-preg carbon for a soft flex and lightness.
